First of all: Lady Tigers Advance to Final Four
For the first time in school history, the LSU Women's Basketball Team is going to the Final Four. Pokey is bringing them back home to New Orleans. Oh: good things happen in New Orleans for the Tigers in Championship games.

Dad's Birthday

It is my daddy's 48th birthday. All he wanted was cheesecake, so I made him two cheesecakes for dinner. Matt and I went out to Watson to his house and ate dinner with the family. Francinne cooked. All the stepsisters were there, even the brat. The middle child is awful and always in a bad mood. She has middle child syndrome. (Hmm, the ex has that I think) She treats Francinne so badly, and that is the main reason why I can't stand her. But you know how bad teenagers are; triple or quadruple that attitude. She is worse: rude and always in need of attention. Oh well, I will stop bickering. I'm just glad I had an older brother and not any sisters. I would kill them if they acted like my stepsister.

My Fat Cat
So, my calico cat Allie is huge. 14 pounds, I believe. The cat is crazy. Every morning at 4:30, she wakes me up because she hears the birds. So, of the 3 windows in my apartment, she chooses the one in my bedroom and sits on the window sill to chirp and meow at the birds. Now, does she have to choose my window in my bedroom. In the middle of her rude awakening, she runs around the apartment screaming and meowing. She will also start jumping up against the wall and the doors to try to get into the closet. When she bangs on the closet, it makes a banging sound. So, I read somewhere that you should put a cat in a dark place when they get roused up. And with my luck, that does not work on Allie. After an hour or two locked up in the bathroom, she starts to bang against the door again because she still hears the birds. The bathroom contains all of her needs, so I can not control Allie. Oh well, I thought I would have sleep this semester, but the cat wakes me up every night.

Going to Austin
This weekend, I finally get to go to Austin and find an apartment. Finally.

Ballet Moms
Alright, they are starting early. Ballet moms, my mom used to be one and tries to still be one except she can't. So, she somehow got on BRBT's Ballet Board and still enjoys being around the drama. Ballet moms, once they realize what is at stake, start early and become obsessive "laying down the law" mothers. Most of them make their daughters go to ballet (no matter how much homework they have to do), watch what their daughters eat (and tell them they are fat), and then stick their dang noses and walk around the studio like they own and paid for the new addition.

Oh, so yesterday I taught all the little children and we have one girl who is obviously sick. The little girl is 3 years old and is cold and shivering, running a fever, and coughing. We bring her out to her mother and explain what is going on, and her mother asks us to bring her back in the classroom because her "daughter should be in class and needs to learn more." Okay, so get all the teachers and other students sick because your daughter has to learn more. Learn more my ass: we do the same combination with those kids everyday. Now, the other teacher did not feel good.

We also had about six other sick kids there and their parents still brought them to class. The parents we put up with at the ballet studio. I love teaching ballet, but I can not stand some of those parents.

Baseball Player of the Day/Game

Dustin Weaver hit a home run to put Tigers in the lead on Tuesday. The poor guy is a backup catcher and overcoming a shoulder injury. What a way to come back.

A big day for LSU sports
1. LSU football team visits the White House
Quite an accomplishment for the National Champions. Only one thing wrong: As their reward, they met Bush.

2. LSU Baseball Team wins ball game against Centenary.
Our Baseball team is ranked #1. College World Series, here we come.

3. LSU Lady Tiger Basketball advances to Sweet Sixteen.
Yes, a repeat of last year because they meet Texas except in the Sweet Sixteen, not the Elite Eight.
HMMM, my present school playing my future school. Interesting. I will always be a Tiger fan.

Interim Coach, Pokey Chapman

...who I think should be next head Coach once skeletor (aka Sue Gunter retires)

I am sticking to my guns
Sorry to offended anyone with my views, but I am entitled to my own opinion. Hence the concept of my individualism. Okay!

GO TIGERS!!!!

March Madness...Just give me Baseball.

I do not get March Madness.

The LSU Fighting Tiger Baseball Team is #1. And what did our Basketball team do (the men, not the women).

American's pastime-Yummy boys playing ball. I have had the privilege to meet several of the LSU baseball players this past summer at Matt;s Grandparents house. His grandparents hosted a party for the boys after they returned from Summer Ball. They are the nicest people. And I finally got to meet Clay Harris, the 1st/3rd baseman I had a crush on before Matthew came along. I had my picture taken with him too.

As much as these boys throw a baseball around, they can not throw horseshoes.

What happened to our values...
I am not going to ramble on very much about this because Ican sum up my point very easily. Our values in society have been lost. Where did they go? First of all, what is the deal with all these people having random sex. Now, times have changed. I know, I know, and people do not wait until marriage. Believe me, I have not waited. I still believe, though, that you should truly love the person and know that you will eventually or want to actually start a life with that person. Random sex is not good, in my eyes. IT should be out of love. And, maybe I am still a romantic, but I also think that it is important.

Oh well, Goodnight and GO SEE THE BALLET.

I get to reject schools

A newly found discovery: I get to reject Universities. Haha. I have to write each one and tell them that I do not accept their offer for graduate school and that I will be attended somewhere else. Wow, the tables have turned. This makes me so happy.
I just emailed Notre Dame and rejected their offer for a free trip.

I also did that to Emory. I wonder why Rice hasn't sent me any notice: I think I did not get accepted. But that is strange, because I was accepted to the 12th and 15th school in the Nation for Chemistry and Rice is lower than they are. Oh well, I did not want to go their anyway.

I have been teaching too many little kids ballet lately. I had 12 5 years olds today, and I have two classes of little ones tomorrow after my usual middle school bunch. And I get to teach them on Monday too.
Maybe I should just pop in the video tape and let them learn themselves.

This makes up for the money I lost when I went on all of those free trips. DARN!! I don't care; I am getting paid $19000 next year plus free health insurance, and no tuition. I have to T.A. Organic chemistry lab. Weee. And I hated that lab.

Dave is Cool!

I think he is picking his nose.

Growing up
I have been in thought a while about my future move to Austin. I know that I will be happy there, but hope that Matt will too. I am excited and hope that the next 5 years. I also realized that I am graduating in 2 months. I went home today to mom's house to pick up my invitations and in my graduation robe is hanging in my closet. I always wondered how stepping across that stage to receive my diploma would feel like knowing that the next 5 years will be spent in a lab just to obtain another degree so my value as a chemist would go up. And then it hit me: I will be doing what I want to do, something a lot of folks can not say. I am so happy that I have chosen the right path for this phase in my life.

I'm happy....
I am going to Austin for my Spring Break with Matt, so that we can find an apartment. We are going to get a 3-bedroom, for any of you curious people. One is my bedroom, one mat's, and the other we will call Matt's "Man-Room" or LSU room. So, that means we have an extra bedroom and we want visitors. IF you come visit me, you probably will not see me much because I will be living in a lab trying to publish for my professor. I have to decide who to work for??? AGGHHH!!

Even though the school's administration sucks, I am going to visit UNC for the free trip. I just hope that I do not fall in love with the school, because I want to go to Texas. I feel that Texas is where I need to be. So, am I done rambling here today.
I'll be back early on Sunday. Bye!

I need a Margarita, and man I love Jimmy Buffett.
SO I have to update My Blog...

Thanks "little dude" for asking me to update my blog, and just DISREGARD the fact that you have not updated YOUR blog. Okay, my rant and rave is over. I will not give you much hell for it "little one" :)

I am going to _________ for Graduate School

Please tell me I am crazy, but I am going to pick my school before I visit UNC-Chapel Hill. Let's say that Chapel Hill's administration is stupid. They have asked for my flight itenerary 4 times. They also sent me a letter asking me for info regarding my visit. They wanted to know when I was coming and if I was taking a plane, and the professors I wanted to meet with. I had already sent that 3 weeks ago!! Hell, I can't stand these people already.

Anyway: I think (drum roll please) UT-Austin is my choice. So, there everyone!! Big surprise: I am going back to Texas. I just hope Matt likes it. We are going to visit on Spring Break.

I found the Asian version of an old friend...

I met the Asian Danielle today. Well, she is the Asian version of when my friend was in high school. She even had her voice and the sense of style from high school. Okay, I have to go eat. Maybe I will bake something. I leave Friday for Chapel Hill. A Waste of their money (at least it is their $$$).

Going back to my Second Home state (good 'ol Texas)
So, I am all packed for Texas tomorrow. In some way, I am going home. I have always loved Texas. I would live there if I could. The only problem that Texas has is the fact that President Bush is from there. I can not stand him, as most of my friends do too. On the other hand, Matt likes W and it gets fun when we discuss politics. Although I am a democrat, I am very conservative in my thinking. So, I guess I am not a true Democrat in the sense.

Back to Texas. I lived there for one of the best year and a half of my life. That was the big learning experience in which I have grown into the person I am today. In Texas, I rediscovered my faith, myself, and a new love of life. I also went through some big changes and finally understood that high school life is very petty. I moved on. You never truly understand yourself until you move away from home and friends by yourself, and develop a new life with new friends and create a new home. That is why Texas has a big part of my heart. Leaving Louisiana made me realize how much I love our state and how much I want to contribute to Louisiana to make this state better. My goal is to obtain a PhD in Chemistry, and come back to Louisiana. When I come back, I plan to do postdoctoral research somewhere, and then I would like to teach as a professor at LSU. But I'll take another Louisiana University. I do not want to be a part of the infamous "brain drain" Louisiana suffers from.

But, Texas would be a wonderful place to spend 5 years. Especially Austin, which is very unique in its style. So much to do and so much culture. I will make my decision after my visit to UNC-Chapel Hill, but I am not exactly keen on Chapel Hill. It is exciting to know that I have 5 options to date (still waiting to hear from Rice), but I feel that UT and UF offer the best for organic synthetic chemistry. I enjoyed UF a great deal and I think Matthew is hoping I choose Florida. We will see. So keep me in mind this weekend. I will return Sunday and I will post details about my trip. Au Revior.

Change of plans
I did not go to the basketball game, but Matthew made dinner instead. He umpires LHSSA baseball and his game went over. But he can cook. You know, he has taught me more about cooking. I made my first stew the other day, and it was better than my dad's. HA!! I'm a baker!!! I find it stress relieving to bake cookie, muffins, banana bread, and any type of cake or pie. I also find coloring and ballet stress relieving too.

Something for the Chemistry majors, because we are superior.
You know you are Chemistry major if...

1. You are so bored with biology because it's just memorization.
2. You have 2 labs every semester.
3. Most of your homework consists of lab reports.
4. A pair of periodic table socks.
5. You read labels to see if you know the structures of the components.
6. You always have that goggle ring on your face.
7. Your after school job is at school working in a lab.
8. You know all of the Chemistry majors by name.
9. You are always wearing pants, long sleeves, and closed toed shoes.
10. You have two pairs of periodic table socks.

Oh, and I do have two pair of periodic table socks. Both Christmas presents from my mom last year and the year before. I will discuss my obsession with socks another day.
I'm published
The Journal of the American Chemical Society has posted my paper on the web. I am so excited. Check it out!!! Today was a bore: proposal for Instrumental Chem Lab was due today. The only good thing about this project is we are analyzing alcohol. Drinking party after we are finished.

I am going to the basketball game tonight. I hope we win. I go to watch the crazy ass students. Matthew has tickets across from the students, so we get to have fun laughing at them. I do not like basketball, but I have gotten used to the squeaky shoes. I would rather be watching baseball. Those guys are nice. We had a party for some of the team at Matthew's grandparents house in the summer.

I am waiting for graduation: MAY 21st, 2004. We still have 3 months. Matt's grandparents are hosting our graduation party and we are going to have fun. My grammy is coming from California mainly for the party. She is so proud because I am the only granddaughter and her oldest grandchild. Then, I get to go to Italy for 2 weeks with my mom and friend from TCU. I need to learn how to speak Italian. Oh well, gotta get ready for the basketball game.

Tuesday, March 02, 2004

Okay, my first blog and it's a little frightening that all you people are going to know what I think. Oh, well. Right now, I am in my winding down ritual before I go to bed: watching David Letterman and then Friends. Every night; oh my life is so boring. Actually, it is not. I spent the day sick in bed and then lugged my lard ass to the ballet studio to help teach 20 4-year olds whose parents have no idea of how to control their children. Their are 4 people who help with this class, and my God, we need more. Or those parents need to teach their kids some manners.

Anyway, my big decision of where to go to Graduate School is coming up. So, you tell me: University of Texas, University of Florida, or that's all I'm going to consider. I have been accepted to UNC-Chapel Hill, Emory, and Notre Dame, but none of them seem appealing enough to spend the next 5 years of my life. I also have a boyfirend to think about because Matthew is moving with me. WOOH: BIG STEP IN MY LIFE. I can't tell the grandparents. They would die if the only relative left in the world who hasn't sinned (yeah right) is shacking up with her boyfriend. Now, I am going to be in the Dog House with the grandmother. OH, the wonderful comments I am going to hear.

Well, I did visit Florida. My only impression: WOW. They have so much $$$. How in the world LSU thinks they can compare themselves to other SEC schools is beyond me. UF (yes, that gators), have 4 (count them) Chemistry buildings, all refurbished labs, and new teaching laboratories. I might just go there, but I will NEVER be a GATOR. Yuck. Well, I will say that UF kicks LSU in the ass on facilities. Matthew went with me and managed to spit on the SWAMP. Oh, and how they hate Ron Zook and want Spurrier to come back. Yeah right.

OKay, I have babbled too too much and I will figure out where I will go after I visit UT this weekend. I am going to UNC, but I do not want to go there. Hell, it's a FREE trip and so I am taking advantage. All of the weekends are paid for, including airline tickets. PLus when I go there: tuition and I get a stipend. I picked the right Major. Sorry Liberal Arts majors. I have to go now: my cat has a burr up her butt and is running around the apartment screaching. I'm sure my neighbors appreciate the constant meowing and me sreaming to Allie. Bye for now.
